We’re looking for artists who are committed to growing their craft and using their work to make an impact. You don’t need to be at a specific level, but you should be actively creating and open to learning, collaboration, and community. This application is open to our local Detroit and worldwide community who are 18 years old and above.

This scholarship covers full or partial tuition for one of our five courses of your choice. Awards are granted based on artistic potential, commitment to growth, and alignment with UMA’s values.

Yes! Whether you’ve previously received financial aid or are applying for the first time, you are welcome to submit an application.

Applications will be available online during the open application period. You’ll be asked to share basic information about yourself, your artistic background, and examples of your work.

Applications are open from Monday, July 13th through Friday, July 17th at 11:59pm ET. Selected scholars will be announced on Monday, July 27th at 12:00pm ET.

• Willingness to contribute to a creative community

Applications are reviewed and selected by the Underground Music Academy team, including instructors, program leaders, and members of our creative community.

Each application is carefully considered to ensure a thoughtful and balanced cohort.

Selected participants are expected to actively engage in the program, attend all sessions, and contribute to the learning environment.
