Course Description

Hear Me Now? is designed for you if you already have ideas in motion but want a clearer, reliable way to bring your music to completion so it translates with impact across real-world listening environments.

Instead of treating mixing as a set of disconnected tools, the course focuses on finishing as a decision making process. You learn how to evaluate what your track needs, identify what’s getting in the way, and make precise adjustments that move a mix forward without overworking it.

Across this course, you develop critical listening skills and practical control over the core elements of a mix, like frequency balance and masking, subtractive EQ, multiband and sidechain compression, stereo imaging, gain staging, parallel processing, saturation, and limiting. These concepts are explored through hands-on application and guided feedback.

You are also introduced to structured workflow thinking that helps simplify complex mixes and creates a more efficient, scalable approach to finishing music.

Throughout the course, the focus stays on translation. You learn how your decisions hold up across different playback systems, from headphones and studio monitors to club and festival environments and how to stay ahead of the final mastering stage without overprocessing or second guessing the mix.

By the end of the course, you have a clearer system for finishing music: faster decisions, stronger mixes, and a more consistent ability to bring tracks across the finish line with clarity, control, and intent.

Experience Requirements

This course will be taught in Logic, but the concepts apply to any DAW.

Students will have a working understanding of their DAW and be comfortable with basic production terminology and navigation. They do not need to be advanced, but should already be making music and able to move through their tools without step-by-step instruction.

If a student has enough working knowledge of their DAW to be able to ask questions through Google or ChatGPT and understands the language used in the answer, then they will grow from this course.

Students with a more advanced understanding of post-production methods may also benefit from the course, particularly in refining their finishing process and decision making. However, this course is designed primarily for students who are actively making music and want the next steps and exercises to shape their tracks into something that works in real-world listening environments, such as clubs and festivals.
