Friday, June 5, 2026 from 6–8:30 PM EST DJ Babu coined the term "turntablist." He swept three International Turntablist Federation World titles in 1997: Beatjuggling, Scratching, and Team World Champion. He's been shaping the next generation of DJs as Program Director at the Beat Junkie Institute of Sound since 2017. Now he's bringing it to Detroit. This is a rare, hands-on vinyl workshop with 6 seats at the turntables and 15 observer seats. You'll dig into the fundamentals of playing records and scratching, guided by one of the true architects of the art form. Whether you're behind the tables or watching up close, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of what it means to move a crowd with wax. This workshop is presented in collaboration with Motor City Street Dance Academy as a celebration of their 10th anniversary. Turntable ticket holders are required to bring: -Headphones (1/8" jack) -Two pairs of needles (Ortofon preferred) -A slipmat Intermediate to advanced experience playing vinyl recommended Seats are limited.
