Scoring Commercials: From Brief to Final Delivery
Join us at the Underground Music Academy for our first two part workshop with Los Angeles based composer, producer, and Executive Creative Director at Butter Music & Sound, Tim Kvasnosky. With his extensive experience in high-profile advertising, film, and branded storytelling, Tim specializes in crafting modern, emotionally resonant music that serves both the picture and the brand. This two week workshop is designed to give you a deep dive into scoring music for commercials, from interpreting the brief to final delivery.
On Saturday, March 7th, 2026, Tim will introduce the content and perform a live demo, scoring music to a commercial. He will provide an overview of the entire process, covering core creative, technical, and workflow fundamentals required to score commercials. Then, you’ll receive your homework. On a voluntary basis, each student will be assigned their own commercial to work on.
MANDATORY PARTICIPATION.
The following week, on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, Tim will offer personalized in person feedback on both the technical and creative aspects of your project. You’ll learn about industry standard file formats, loudness targets, and professional delivery methods for a commercial ready track. Whether you prefer live feedback or written analysis, Tim will help you refine your portfolio and position yourself for freelance commercial opportunities.
OPTIONAL PARTICIPATION.
Additionally, we’ll offer mid week submissions on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, with written feedback provided within 24 hours to ensure your work stays on track. By the end of this workshop, you’ll have gained hands on insight and the tools you need to create a compelling, marketable commercial score.
OPTIONAL PARTICIPATION.
